Transition from K.S.A. to a Skills-Based Framework in JDXpert
Applies To: All job description templates and sample jobs within the JDXpert Library
What’s Changed? ***TEST***
JDXpert has officially transitioned from the legacy Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (K.S.A.) format to a modern, Skills-Based Framework across all default templates and system-managed sample jobs.
This update affects:
All default job description from JDX Content
Sample jobs and role libraries maintained by JDXpert
Why the Change?
The KSA model—originally designed for narrative-based federal hiring—no longer reflects the dynamic, data-driven practices of today’s HR and talent teams. Replacing it with a structured skills framework enables:
Improved search and filtering for internal mobility and external recruitment
Smarter recommendations for pay benchmarking, training, and upskilling
Better data integration with your HRIS, LMS, and analytics tools
More consistency with job competencies, physical demands, and qualifications
Alignment with skills-based hiring and workforce planning strategies
What’s New in JDXpert?
Feature | Description |
Dedicated Skills Section | Structured, bullet-point format organized by skill type and job function |
Tagging & Proficiency Levels | Skills may now be tagged by proficiency (e.g., Beginner, Intermediate, Expert) |
Legacy KSA Archive | KSA entries have been removed from JDX sample libraries to prevent future use |
How This Affects You
KSA Fields: If you were using the KSA building block, your library-driven job descriptions will now display relevant skills instead.
Legacy Descriptions: Existing job descriptions that include KSAs will remain unchanged unless you manually update or refresh them using the new Skills block.
Recommended Next Steps
Audit Existing JDs: Review your current job descriptions to identify any legacy KSA content.
Choose Your Path: If the KSA info still adds value—keep it. Otherwise, use the updated library suggestions to switch to structured skills.
Explore the New Block: Open the "Skills" field and test how categorized, structured content improves readability, accuracy, and filtering.
Before: KSA-Based Results View
After: Skills-Forward Results View
Clear, categorized bullet points with optional proficiency tags
