This screen displays all building blocks and elements from the job. You can apply the cascading types to the selected elements in this screen.
To apply the cascading type to the child jobs
Cascading is of the following types:
Hard Cascade
It inherits data from parent to child and the child data is non-editable.
If parent data is updated, it will update the data in the child's job.
Soft Cascade
It populates data from the parent job initially. It is editable (For example, we can edit the data or change the language).
Soft Cascade on Create
Data is inherited from the parent job only when a child job is created (for the first time)
1. Select the fields from the list for which you wish to apply the cascading.
2. Click Cascade Type and select the following:
Hard Cascade – For hard cascading
Soft Cascade – For soft cascading
Soft Cascade on Create – For cascading the child jobs only when they are created
None – For not inheriting any data from parent to child
This updates the Cascade Type column in the list as shown in the following figure:
3. Similarly, select the fields from the list and apply Soft Cascade type as shown:
This updates the Cascade Type column in the list as shown in the following figure:
The fields which are not Hard Cascade, Soft Cascade, or Soft Cascade On Create are displayed as None in the Cascade Type column.
4. Click Save and Close.
This saves the settings in the file and closes the screen.
To apply tagged text cascade
The Tagged Text Cascade is used to apply conditions while inheriting data from parent job to child job.
1. Click Tagged Text Cascade.
This displays the following screen:
2. Click Add.
This displays the following dialog box:
3. In the Select Tagged Text Cascade list, select the target binding property.

11. Click Save and Close.
This saves the settings and closes the screen.
To cascade data for duplicate bindings
It is the best practice for duplicate bindings (multiple blocks bound to the same data element) to have the same cascade type for all instances.
For example, if a job template contains two building blocks bound to the "Education" data element, both blocks should have the same cascade type ("Hard," "Soft," or "None") in the Parent-Child Settings file. This ensures consistent behavior and prevents potential conflicts.
