You can set validations, threshold values, and visibility expressions on bullet lists.
Overview
You can define validation rules on bullet lists. For example, you can set the following validations for the Essential Functions building block:
- Minimum Rows
- Maximum Rows
- Minimum Percentage
- Maximum Percentage
- Error Message
- Visibility Condition
To understand the job description validation
1. Edit a job description and enter all details.
2. Click Save and Close.
This performs the validation check in all blocks and displays error messages (if any):
3. Click Close Form with Errors to save and close the form (with errors).
To set validation on bullet lists
1. Open the Bullet List Designer.
2. Click the Advanced Options tab.
3. Select the This Bullet List Has Validations check box.
This displays the Bullet List Validation section.
4. Click Set Validations.
This displays the Edit Bullet List Validations screen:
Set values for the Max/Min Number of Rows, Max/Min Error Messages, and Max/Min Percentages properties.
5. Click the General node to expand.
6. Click MaxRows.
This displays the properties in the right pane.
This property defines the maximum number of rows in the bullet list.
7. Enter the maximum rows allowed in the Set Numeric Field section.
8. Click Apply Changes.
9. Select MinRows in the left pane.
10. Enter the minimum rows to be entered in the Set Numeric Field section.
11. Click Apply Changes.
12. Likewise, set the following values to the properties:
- MaxPercentage – 100
- MinPercentage – 100
These properties define the maximum and minimum percentages permissible in the Essential Functions building block.
This displays the updated values in the screen:
13. Click Close Form.
14. Click Close Form.
15. Click Save and Close.
To set validations in the job template editor
1. Edit the job template editor.
2. Click the Edit icon of the bullet list and select the Validations tab.
This displays the following screen:
3. Select the This Block Has Validations check box:
This displays the validation check box.
4. Select the Field Must Evaluate To True check box.
This option validates whether the field value (expression) is True.
5. Select the This Bullet List Has Validations check box.
This displays the validations as shown:
6. Select the Min/Max Row Requirement check box.
6. Set the following options:
- Min Rows – minimum row count in the bullet list
- Min Error Message – error message
- Max Rows – maximum row count in the bullet list
- Max Error Message – error message
7. Click Save and Close.
To set the visibility expression on bullet lists
You can set a visibility expression if you wish to display a value depending on another field.
1. Select the building block in which you wish to specify the visibility expression.
2. Click Bullet List Designer.
This displays the bullet list designer.
3. Select the required bullet list column.
4. Select the This column has a Visibility Expression check box.
5. Click Define Visibility Expression.
This displays the following screen:
This screen contains the following fields:
- ExprSource – Contains the source column
- ExprValue – Contains the expression value (Yes/No)
- Operator – Contains the operator (=, >, <, and so on)
- Expression – Displays the complete expression (ExprSource Operator ExprValue)
The ExprSource field is the source column in the bullet list designer as shown:
6. Click Close Form.
7. Select the column on which you have set the visibility expression.
8. Select YES/NO in the dropdown list displays different values as shown:
9. Click Close Form.
