Issue: When importing a Job Description that has Reference Bullet List:
- The Reference Bullet List section on the Imported Job Description displays blank on the preview of the Job Description.
- If the Imported Job Description is configured as a Parent, Child Job Descriptions do not reflect the Parent Job Description’s Reference Bullet List data when a cascade occurs.
- The Imported Job Description show data in the Reference Bullet List when open in the Edit Job Description screen.
The issue is that the Job Description pulls the Reference Bullet List data when opened Job Description (which is pulled in on the screen load), but the data does not persist until a Save occurs.
To address this on any future Imported Job Descriptions, the Reference Bullet List data can be persisted to the Job Description via the following configuration in the Job Import Profile:
- In the column mapping screen, map a blank column to the dependent bullet lists. This will purposefully clear out any existing data in the mapped bullet lists for the jobs included in the import file.
- Order does not matter, the blank column can be at the end of the import file
- Multiple mappings to the blank column is fine
Be sure to un-check ‘Skip If Blank Value’
In the final profile configuration screen, check ‘Re-Apply Formula Values For Job Descriptions’. This will force the formulas/logic in the master template to be recalculated, and will save the bullet override values to the dependent bullet lists.
Update Imported Job Descriptions witth Refererence BL data
If Job Descriptions that have been previously imported without the configuration above behaving as if the Reference Bullet List data is blank (see above/ top of page), then the following can be done to save the Reference Bullet List data to the Job Description:
- If there are a small amount of affected Job Descriptions, then you can just open them (for edit) and save them. This will save the Ref Bullet List data to the Job Description.
- Re-run the Import of the affected Job Descriptions, ensuring that the “Re-Apply formulas” is checked. Verify that the Reference Bullet List data was updated, and if not, proceed to #3.
- Re-run the import (2 ttimes) of the affected Job Descriptions (with the “Re-Apply Formulas” option checked), with:
- Run 1: Blank-out the field(s) that the Reference Bullet lists are dependent on.
- Run 2: With the Dependent fields populated in Run 1, Run 2 should re-populate the Reference Bullet List data.
