Now let's think about revising job descriptions using JDX. To do this double click on the Revise Job icon on your home page.
This will bring you into the workflow screen.
Click on the Add Job link to retrieve a job or jobs you wish to revise.
If you're choosing more than one job description, please keep in mind that the reviewers must be the same for all jobs. Here you may search for job descriptions by name or job code or by using one of the filters for this purpose. Here let's go ahead and select our Accounting Specialist II. Select and close.
From here we need to choose the workflow that we wish to use. JDX provides you with two workflows by default: a best practice workflow which is a more structured workflow and a simpler 2 step workflow that goes from a stakeholder to compensation for finalization. For this tutorial, we will use this two-step workflow.
The first step will be to select a direct manager. Choose a direct manager by clicking on Select Direct Manager.
We begin by entering the email address and first and last name of the manager we wish to use. Since we don't have managers loaded in the system, we will need to use an email address so they receive a link that can allow them to access the job description via email. After we enter the manager’s information, we can add them as an ad hoc reviewer. Once we do this, click on the Add Ad Hoc button.
Once you do that, click on Add Participant. They’ll now be part of the workflow.
Next, we could do one of two things. If you want to add an additional stakeholder to work with Harry on this job description, you could add additional people by clicking on the plus sign and doing the same thing.
Do keep in mind however that Harry would be designated as the approver and would be the person who would send this job over to Compensation for finalization. The next step is Compensation so we can and click on Compensation. Since we do have a compensation person in the system here, we can go ahead and select her as a participant.
Once we do this, we can go ahead and start the workflow for this job description by clicking on Start Workflow.
An email will go out to Harry and from there the workflow can begin.
