Hello today we are going to walk through editing choice lists.
From your home screen, you click Admin Tools → Master templates, and edit the master template.
Select any job just to use the sample data. I am going to pick a sample job and click Select and Close. It opens the job template editor.
You want to scroll down and find the choice lists that you would like to edit and click the Edit icon.
Today's walk through I'm going to discuss 3 different types of choice list. We are going to start with the Pay_Grade.
On the right-hand side, you can see the choice list section.
The Pay Grade drop down is currently set as a Master Template Choice List (Legacy). Click the Edit icon which will bring up the choice list edit window. You will see 2 columns here: the Display Value and Value.
The Value is the true data for this field where the Display Value is just what users see. For instance that if we wanted to edit Pay Grade 1, we can click this hand over here. On the right-hand side, you will see options for the value and the display value.
If we want the display value to change to just Grade 1, we will type that here and click out of the box. You will see now the display value shows Grade 1 and the value shows Grade 1. To add a new item, click the Add icon, set the value as Pay_Grade_3 display value has Grade 3, click Save and Close.
And you will see that its adds to the list. When you have made the edits and changes that you like, you can Save and Close The items are reflected in the drop down.
Next item, will go to Locations and click the Edit icon. You see over here in the choice list section that this choice list is a reference choice list.
This means that its going to use an existing reference choice list. You can add or edit reference choice lists with this button here. He can select them using this for this button. When you are editing a reference choice list, you will see that the choice list options appear in pink.
This means that the choice list is based on an Excel workbook. If you click the Excel Workbook Settings tab at the top, you will see the name of the file that the choice list is using as a reference.
You can view and download the workbook here, make your changes, and then upload the Excel Workbook back into JDXpert.
Once you finished making your changes here, Save and Close as usual which will bring you back to the job template editor.
The third type of choice list that we're going to look at today is our Reports To option.
We click the Edit icon here, you'll see in the right that this is labelled as a dynamic choice list.
Dynamic choice lists use an expression to generate values. In this case, we are looking for job description names to use in the Reports To option. Click Edit here.
It will bring you to the tagged text editor, where you can select and edit tag text has needed.
In this case, it's a simple expression of job desc. name, click Save and Close. You can see, when we click the three dot (…) button, we have a list of every job description name that's in our system.
As always, when you finished making any changes in the job template editor, Select and Close to make sure everything saves correctly.
I hope this was informative and please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks.
