A participant can reject the job to the previous participant to review again. This step can be performed after the approval by the first participant in the workflow.
To reject a step in the workflow
- Click the job in the Tasks section.
This displays the job in the workflow:

- Click the Return icon in the workflow ribbon:
This displays the Return Workflow Step screen:

b. Click Return.
- Select the Send e-mail to the previous step approver(s) check box to send an email to the previous approver.
- Enter the comments in the box:
It displays an error message if you select the Send e-mail to the previous step approver(s) checkbox and don't enter any comments since the email body cannot be blank.
- Select the Send courtesy e-mail to other participants check box to send courtesy email to other participants.
- Enter the comments in the box as shown:
It displays an error message if you select the Send courtesy e-mail to other participants checkbox and don't enter any comments since the email body cannot be blank.
- Enter the email addresses in the Courtesy E-mail CC box to which you wish to send courtesy emails.
This box contains a placeholder that displays the text "Rejected" (this text is hard-coded).
- Enter the rejection comments in the Comment for Return box.
- Click Return Step.
You can also select a step for the workflow to revert to upon rejection. If rejected, the workflow will go directly to this step. These settings are specified in the workflow steps.
This displays the following message:
- Click Ok.
The workflow is returned to the previous step.
When a step is rejected, the changes made by the active participant are saved. The workflow reverts to the previous (or selected) step, allowing that participant to resume editing from the point where the step was rejected.
To specify the workflow rejection step
You can also select a step for workflow rejection. When rejected, the workflow will go directly to the chosen step. When this option is enabled on the workflow steps, it displays the following dropdown list:
- Select the step where you want this workflow to go after rejection.
- Click Return Step.
The workflow is returned to step number 2 after rejection.
